Peter Thomas, long recognized as a pioneer in creating and producing sophisticated nightlife, dining and lifestyle initiatives, serves as the Founder and CEO of The Peter Thomas Entertainment Group (PTEG). With a career that spans more than 30 years in the entertainment industry, Peter has developed a reputation for delivering unparalleled experiences in nightclubs, restaurants, concert and entertainment production.
From 1986-90, Peter was the owner and operator of Club Manhattan in Miami as well as the owner of 5th Street Nightclub (1988-91), the first black-owned club in South Beach. From 1991-93, he served as President of Rush Management U.K. in London, where he work in public relations, tour coordination and artist management. By integrating hip hop in the United Kingdom, he assisted with the tours of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, ONYX, Public Enemy, etc.
In 1993, he created How Can I Be Down?, the largest urban conference in the country for the urban entertainment and lifestyle industry. With over 10,000 participants, industry insiders and outsiders are able to network and connect with business opportunities in music, marketing, fashion, film, and television.
From 1993-97, Peter worked as a consultant for Def Jam Records. From 1996-97, he owned and operated Savannah's Restaurant on South Beach (which he eventually sold to China Grill, and is now Tuscan Steakhouse). In Los Angeles as Senior Vice-Presidents of Operations (1998-2000), Peter co-founded Source Entertainment, and launched the Source Awards, Source All Access and Source Sound Lab on the television station UPN (now My9).
In 2000, Peter returned to Miami as a consultant for Krave and Static nightclubs. He then opened Barcode Restaurant and Lounge in Miami, 2002-2005. Peter reunited the How Can I Be Down Conference in July 2005 in Miami with Damon Dash, in December 2005 in Toronto in Vibe Magazine, and again in November 2006 in Atlanta with Jermaine Dupri.
Embodying the spirit of a true entrepreneur, Thomas has been instrumental in the pioneering of magazines, awards, leading the growth and cultivation of the urban market into the Miami, Atlanta and Charlotte restaurant and club scenes.
Peter has laid the foundation for a successful new brand of lounges, Bar ONE. The inaugural Bar ONE opened in Atlanta in October of 2011. Seeing the success of Bar ONE in Atlanta, Peter set his sights on another thriving southern city, Charlotte, North Carolina. Opened Fall 2014, the upscale sport bar, Sports ONE, has been hugely successful and has been followed by the 2016 opening of Club ONE in the AvidXchange Music Factory. Peter is also the owner of a gourmet coffee brand, Peter’s Brew.
